I really adore this non-traditional travel journal. Part scrapbook, part art slideshow — Les Carnets de Traverse is a beautiful journey through the places, typefaces, tastes and textures of new destinations.
I discovered the site through an interview Travelettes did with ‘Carnets’ creator, Julie. A very cool read! I wish I could do something even a fraction as cool as this with all of the scraps, maps, ticket stubs and photographs I take on every trip I take.
Deth P. Sun is one of my favorite artists, hands down. Pictured are some shots from his latest zine endeavor — a collection of drawings for every letter of the alphabet done over the course of the last year and put into excellent, excellent book form.
This is my new zine. It’s 32 B&W 8.25”x11” pages, with a one color blue cover. The title is “I See All”. It’s an alphabet zine, where each page I draw everything I could think of for each letter. The drawings are from February 2011 to January 2012. You can pick it up from me or my etsy.
Crossing Sweepers! How is this a phenomenon I was not aware of?
The Wikipedia article on the subject is incredible, as is the the breadth of attitudes on the subject of “juvenile highwayman who, broom in hand, take possessions of our crossings and level black mail upon the public in general, and timid females in particular.”
Also, the article has a quote from a LADY PEDESTRIAN, defending the profession for it has benefit to well-shod people. Dang. Classy times!
Recycled skate decks have never looked so good. So good! With some throwbacks to retro video gaming and vinyl toy culture, this artist pretty much has it all.
I’ve happened upon a lot of art by this fine arts dude over the years. Seeing his portfolio in full is quite the wonderful find. http://www.micahlidberg.com/
